History - Our guided reading text fits in beautifully with our history learning, as we will be investigating WWII. I won't give too much away, but it really is a story that has a little bit of everything. Guided Reading - To start, it's one of our favourites: Good Night Mr Tom. Science - We will be learning about the work of Carl Linnaeus and how he created a system of classification for all living things which has helped name all plant and animals since its creation nearly 300 years ago! We will be looking at numbers up to 10,000,000 (ten million), different ways to partition numbers, strategies for placing very larger numbers on a number line, powers of ten as well as using Gattegno charts to help us better understand our number system. This will give the us tools to access the later units that follows.

Maths - As with all years, we start with learning about place value. We will be exploring character and setting through diary writing, imagining interviews between characters and describing characters and settings.
